          Feb 11-12, 2017, Taiwan Tourism Bureau at Travel & Adventure Show

          SFGMS was invited to perform for the Taiwan Tourism Bureau at the Santa Clara Travel & Adventure Show.

           


          Feb 8, 2017, San Francisco Senior Center

          SFGMS was invited to perform at the San Francisco Senior Center to celebrate Chinese New year. To the delight of the Russian members in the center, our Artistic Director Weishan Liu performed a Russian folk song in guzheng. See pictures below.

          Feb 4, 2017, Presidio Knolls School, San Francisco

          Members of SFGMS: Lina Cheung, Kari Lee and XuanYi Zhou performed at the Chinese New Year Festival at the Presidio Knolls School in San Francisco. They also demonstrated the features and answer questions about the guzheng to curious parents and students. Here are some pictures:

           


          35th Annual Concert, May 21, 2017

          Our Story: A Multi-media Presentation of the Chinese American Journey 35th annual concert

          The San Francisco Guzheng Music Society performed to a full house at their 35th annual concert on May 21, 2017 at Cowell Theater at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. The concert “Our Story: A Multi-media Presentation of the Chinese American Journey”, is in memory of Phil Choy, a renowned historian of Chinese American studies. The concert used an integration of historical photographs, narrations of early Chinese American immigration challenges with music accompaniment. Musicians performing include the society’s artistic director Weishan Liu (guzheng plucked string instrument), Siao Feng Chang (erhu, spike fiddle instrument), Jung Gao (dizi, bamboo flute instrument), Strauss Shi (violin), China’s Spirit Music Ensemble, Tranquil Resonance Studio and members of the San Francisco Guzheng Music Society. It was well received by the audience.
